TFT Set 16: How to Play Bard Reroll

TFT Set 16: How to Play Bard Reroll

Overview

TFT Set 16 has so far featured a lot of legendaries on final boards, but there are still a few reroll comps that are finding success on the ladder right now. One of them is Bard and Bruisers -- this is a comp that you can force every single game if you are someone who likes to reroll!

When to Play

  • You hit Sion, Bruisers, or Aphelios early

  • You have a good econ opener or reroll-oriented augments

  • You're sick of legendary spam

How to Play

  • The core of this build is unlocking Bard, which requires you to roll 4 times before the Stage 2 carousel. The best time to do this is on Stage 2-3, when you have the most money saved up to do it all in one go. Roll and hold bruisers!

  • You're going to feel really poor after that, but Bard provides you with econ every turn to make up for it.

  • This is a tempo comp, which means you want to start win streaking at Stage 3-2 at the latest. Make sure you roll to hit your upgrades on 3-2, even if it means dipping deep into your economy. 4 Bruiser + Bard + Aphelios will win a lot of rounds for you!

  • Slam your items -- Bard and Sion items are the most important but you can also build Aphelios items. Run 3 items one of your backline carries mid game, even if it's a suboptimal item, until you are able to get proper items later. Do not split items in the mid game!

  • The most skippable unit is Aphelios in terms of 3-starring. If you hit Bard and Sion first, don't spend time chasing Aphelios unless you're super close to hitting him.

  • That said, you can reasonably skip 3-starring any of the units. If you skip Sion, you'll need to eventually hit Wukong2 for frontline. If you skip Bard and Aphelios (or one or the other), you'll need to find a 4-cost carry to play around. Yunara is a great unit to play if you find yourself in a situation where you hit Sion super early, for example.

  • This comp is likely to fall off late game, so your goal is to win hard on Stage 3 and Stage 4 so you can afford to slowly bleed out on Stage 5 -- you'll often be playing for a Top 4, but if you are ahead of tempo, you can look to add legendaries at level 8, 9, and 10. Capping around the likes of Volibear, Shyvana, Fiddlesticks or unlockables like Xerath (if you can get him) can be really powerful! Even backline carries like Kindred and LucianSenna can be played.

Stage

Level

2-3

Roll 4 times for Bard

2-5

If you hit upgrades on the previous rolldown, consider leveling to 5 here to play 4 Bruiser + Bard.

3-1

Level to 5 at this point if you haven't yet.

3-2

Level to 6 and roll until you’ve upgraded your core 2-cost units. You should dig for Sion and Bard upgrades!

3-X

The rest of this stage, you should try to build your economy back up to 50g, and then from there slow roll down to 50g for your units.

4-2

By this point in the game, if you are low on HP and still not winning, you may need to roll down to 10g every turn until you are one away from your core units, and then roll until 0. If you have a lot of HP left, you can just roll down to 50g and take your time finding your units.

5-2

Ideally you can push to level 8 by this turn. You are likely behind tempo if you cannot -- the 6 bruiser upgrade is pretty big for your team!

6-X

You want to push 9 at some point -- probably after you hit your 4-cost units, but if you can't build up the econ, you can just roll every turn for whatever upgrades you still need.

Win Conditions

  • You 3-star your carries on good tempo

  • That's pretty much always going to be your win condition. Level 9 and 10 for legendary units to supplement you board! You almost always want to add units that deal damage as your 6 bruisers is all the frontline you'll need!
