Deadlock VALORANT Guide

Deadlock VALORANT Guide

Overview

If you need a Sentinel who also has a fun kill ability as her ultimate, well, that’s Deadlock. Why did you need such a specific thing, though? She’s an agent that has a lot of stalling power between having a wall, some traps, and a big net that she can throw onto opponents. Her abilities all come with drawbacks that can be exploited by either team, though, which means you’ll need to master her kit in order to maximize the value for your team and not theirs.

Role: Sentinel

Sentinels are defensive anchors for your team.

On defense, they provide utility that can clog chokes and slow the enemy team’s approach if not deter them altogether.

On attack, they are typically responsible for watching flanks with their utility while lurking in a different direction from your team.

Tips and Tricks

  • Barrier Mesh [C] functions similarly to Sage’s wall in that it’s primarily a set and forget ability -- you just throw it down on an angle you don’t want enemies approaching from and then play off of it. One big difference is that it’s a transparent wall, so you can potentially swing to shoot enemies as they try to break it down.

  • You can also use the small pockets created by Barrier Mesh [C] to hide in unique angles or to try to trap pushing enemies in the middle of their advance.

  • Sonic Sensor [Q] can be tricky because enemies might just walk past it, but if you can jiggle peak the angle it’s sitting at, you can sometimes bait enemies into shooting back while they are near it, which will trigger it and concuss them.

  • On offense, be careful about relying too much on Sonic Sensor [Q] as a flank detection ability. You can, however, find guaranteed value on it if placed near where enemies must jump to or near the spike (defusing will make a noise).

  • Grav Net [E] is the core ability of her kit, and a well-placed net can literally stop enemies in their tracks. This is especially potent on defense as you anchor a site, but on offense, it can be used to force enemies off of angles that are difficult for your team to challenge.

  • You have a lot more time on Annihilation [X] than you might think, so don’t be so quick to throw it out all the time. It’s very difficult to hit the ability directly onto an opponent, so being able to bounce it off a wall to catch someone is your best bet.
